Economy and Jobs Focus of Discussion at 32nd Annual Legislative LuncheonGeoscience Roughneck Basketball Goalrilla Goal

On November 10, area educators shared their concerns about a challenging labor market and general economic questions with state legislators at the 32nd annual Legislative Luncheon in Salina.

About 40 participants attended, including state legislators, SHESC staff, district administrators, and school board members from across the region.

An annual tradition since SHESC’s founding, the luncheon gives educators an opportunity to communicate directly with government leaders and for those leaders to learn more about current concerns in the realm of education.

Seven state officials participated in the event, as follows: Rep. Suzi Carlson, R-District 64; Rep. Clarke Sanders, R-District 69; Rep. Mike Dodson, R-District 67; Sen. Rick Wilborn, R-District 35 and Vice President of the Senate; Rep. Steven Johnson, R-District 108; Rep. Ken Rahjes, R-District 110; and Rep. Jim Minnix, R-District 118.

End-of-Pathway Assessments, Credentials, and Certifications

Career and Technical Education Pathways are a non-traditional way to help your students leave high school with employable skills and improve your district’s postsecondary success rate!

"End-of-Pathway Assessments, Credentials, and Certifications" helps educators to offer these industry-recognized opportunities to students. It's available by Zoom on January 11, 2022; register today at link.smokyhill.org/cte-certifications.

This virtual workshop will explain the options available for different Pathways, where to access the assessments, and what students can expect when taking one of these assessments, as well as how to correctly report the results to KSDE. Participants will receive an electronic resource with links for all assessments, credentials and certifications, and updates as needed.
